Hi all,

I recently downloaded RSTS this morning, and it worked flawlessly the first time I tried it. I closed the Planetside and RSTS temporarily to download a couple voicepacks and crosshairs I wanted to try. When I relaunched both, I was able to see the overlay and crosshair, but the tracker itself was not tracking.

Now, I am stuck in offline mode and have the Update Required message. When I go to the update screen, it shows a a progress bar with no explanation and no progress being made.

I have RSTS 0.10.3.3 and Windows 8.1 x64.

Edit: Sorry for the double post... I'm not used to the forum. Working on deleting other one.

What is your tracker username? Can you unselect beta, update, restart, and try again?

My tracker username is karma3six. I tried unselecting beta and restarting and keep getting the same problem.

One thing that worked was uninstalling the tracker, deleting all the local files, and then reinstalling. However, like before, once I closed the tracker and reopened it, I get the same problem.

Alright I'm seeing some errors on our end. What files do you see under the \Components\ folder? Did you load the crosshair overlay after the reinstall, this happens now regardless?

I did load the crosshair overlay again after I manually reinstalled, and I tried it without the crosshair component. Same issue regardless.

Here is my components folder:

I appreciate the help!

No problem man, we'll get this figured out.

1. Have you tried to do a repair install in the update section?
2. Can you try explicitly running the tracker as administrator (right click -> run as administrator) and see if that changes anything?

If not, can you download this executable http://www.labtestproject.com/files/sha256sum/sha256sum.exe and put it in the Components folder inside of the RTST installation directory. Once it's there, can you go to that folder in the command prompt and type "sha256sum * > sums.txt" and paste the data in sums.txt below? What this will perform an integrity check (hash them) of the files that we can compare to what they are supposed to be on our end to see if that is the problem.

1.) I tried the Repair Install several times and it does not respond. It will show the exact thing as the Update, just with 0/30,383,826 on the progress bar.
2.) Yes, I've tried to run it as an administrator with no change.

Here is what sums.txt reads:

Alright those don't match, which is the problem. Do you have anti-virus or something that might be messing with the update process? If so can you check the logs to see if it's miss flagging something? Try adding an exception to our directory structure as well and see if that helps.

We've seen some crappier AV vendors in the past flag our update executable as suspicious. If that does help can you let me know the vendor and what it's flagging it as?

I use Avast, but I've tried disabling it for small amounts of time to try updating. I'll look into finding a way to make an exclusion. I'm not the most fluent with this kind of thing, so it might take me some time to figure out.

This might help: http://www.getavast.net/support/managing-exceptions

Thanks for the link. I was able to find the exception list, and added all of the .exe's in the main Recursion folder, and excluded recursiontracker.com... I restarted RTST and the issue is not resolved.

Edit: I also excluded the entire Recursion folder. No dice.

Did you try disabling anti-virus all together just to see if that worked? Do you see any files in the /temp/ folder?

Try downloading these somewhere on your machine.

https://recursiontracker.com/fist/MI7jzU8qf38kpoW/RTSTUpdater.exe
https://recursiontracker.com/fist/0LH3zkoW6egnYC3/RTSTElevated.exe
https://recursiontracker.com/fist/bh8qI1Lm6cOgmr8/RTLibrary.dll

Do they download? (don't replace the existing files with these)

Yes, I tried with both my AV and Firewall turned off.

Sorry, I didn't see your edit the first time. All three of the files downloaded with no issues.

For no discernible reason that I can see, RTST just downloaded an update file and is now connected. I appreciate all of the help and will keep you appraised if the problem comes up again.

Well, I guess that's good news. I would love to know why it worked all of a sudden though :eng101:
