Problem to start the program correctly

Recently I installed this program and I don't know very well how it works. The first time i installed the program, i added my player from planet side and it showed "connected", then i started to play and everything was ok. But if i close the game and i start it again, the program shows "offline", i start the planet side client and when i am going to play the session didn't start anyway. If I reinstall the program and I add my player again, the first time it works and shows "connected" but then doesn't work. How can I fix it? The correct form is to start first the program and then the planet side or upside down? Thanks
