Thread: PUP in RST?

  1. #1

    PUP in RST?

My OS and version: Windows 7 x64

    The version of RTST: 0.11.0.900

Reason Core Security identifies the file "WebSocket4Net.dll" as "PUP.Win.Reputation". https://www.reasoncoresecurity.com/k...&v=1.1.2.0&p=1

I was running a scan for malware/spyware and this warning message popped up.

It's probably a false positive, but I wanted to share it with you.

Definitely a false positive. Reason Core Security is known for having a lot of false positives and expects people/companies to sort them out with them. Considering that's an extremely common .NET library DLL, that is pretty bad for them to flag that file specifically. Thanks for the report.

Out of curiosity, how did you end up running that particular AV?

Yesterday my PC got infected with some Adware/Spyware/Malware thingy.(mostly some pages automatically popping up and redirecting) I used Avira Free Antivirus, Spybot Search&Destroy, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Malwarebytes AdwCleaner, Hitman Pro and couldn't clean it. Somebody on a forum recommended Reason Core Security. Later I did a scan with Combofix, let's see what "experts" will say about the log.
