Actually the second one matches the official one pretty closely. Could you raise the opacity slightly? It's pretty transparent.

Btw, as a quick example of an animated icon, would something like this work?
If something like this is what you have in mind, I can work on making it more "shiny" and "glowy". The problem with .gif's though is that I can't make them "glow" with a transparent layer properly. It's just the nature of the image type. So everything needs to be limited to within the solid parts of the image. But there's tweaks to do making the layers themselves look more like metals and with a polished look.
